'Now you are going to see another TV first - attempted suicide': Tragic story of Florida news anchor who shot herself dead during live broadcast in 1974 is turned into a Hollywood film

Christine Chubbuck (left) killed herself while reading the news for a local Sarasota, Florida TV station in July 1974, aged 29. Her story, almost forgotten after an injunction prevented the incident form being rebroadcast, has been retold in a film which was released at the weekend, starring British Hollywood actress Rebecca Hall (right). The movie, called Christine, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah at the weekend. Coincidentally, a documentary version of her life was also on show this year.
