Bold move: John Boyega paid homage to fan favourite Luke Skywalker at the premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens on Monday evening
As the stars descended at the premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens on Monday evening, franchise newcomer John Boyega took the opportunity to pay homage to fan favourite Luke Skywalker.

The 23-year-old, who plays stormtrooper Finn in the highly-anticipated sci-fi movie, attended the star-studded Hollywood screening with a black leather glove on his right hand.

The bold fashion accessory was clearly a nod to Skywalker, who wore the item after he got his hand chopped off by his father, Darth Vader, in The Empire Strikes Back.

Dressed in a purple custom Versace tuxedo, John managed to cut a handsome figure as he posed on the red carpet alongside fellow stars.

Speaking about the film, the British actor told Entertainment Tonight: ‘I’ve been waiting for this for two years! To be at a point where we’ve auditioned and filmed and release this thing into the world, I feel fantastic.

‘Now I can just be like, “Remember the scene when…” and we can all have a conversation now. I’m getting ready.’He's a fan: The 23-year-old actor attended the star-studded Hollywood screening with a black leather glove on his right hand
