Abubakar Audu, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the November 21 governorship election of Kogi state, died on Sunday afternoon after reportedly suffering stroke twice. A family source confirmed this to TheCable. Audu was said to have complained of stomach cramps before going to bed Saturday night, having
been feeling unwell since Friday, a day to the election. He only managed to vote in his hometown, Ogbonicha, on Saturday before retiring to his house. Audu experienced the first stroke, TheCable learnt, at 9am on Sunday, The source added that he suffered the second stroke about the same time the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the election inconclusive, although the link is still a subject of speculation. There is yet no official confirmation of his death.
