Back in Britain after 14 years in Guantanamo without charge: Shaker Aamer flies into Kent airport... and will now meet the 10-year-old son he has never seen

Shaker Aamer the last British Guantanamo Bay prisoner returns to the UK
The father-of-four (inset) landed at Biggin Hill airport in south-east London on a £23million Gulfstream 450 private jet (top), chartered by the British government. It is believed he was taken away from the airport by the Harley Street private ambulance service (below) to undergo a health check-up before returning to his home in Battersea, south London. Mr Aamer had been detained at the US military prison in Cuba since 2002 without trial. The 46-year-old says he was working as a charity worker in Afghanistan when he was kidnapped and handed over to US forces in 2001. During his time in captivity, his lawyers said he was subjected to torture, with beatings and sleep deprivation and held in solitary confinement for 360 days.
