The contenders for the 2016 World Car of the Year Awards have been announced. As ever, it’s all set to be a closely-fought contest for one of the ‘best car in the world’ gongs. Read on to see how things are shaping up for 2016...
 
The World Car of the Year Awards are the only ‘best car’ awards to be truly international. 72 Jurors from all countries vote on the best cars sold across the globe. This is why, increasingly, it’s seen as the one to win. 
The European Car of the Year is big, but only looks at cars sold in the European region. World Car of the Year jurors look globally. And with big emerging markets such as China and Brazil playing an ever-bigger part, WCOTY’s importance swells with every year.
 
The 72 jurors will vote across five categories in January 2016, with the top three finalists in each category being revealed at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. And then...
 
The overall winners in each category will be announced at the New York Auto Show on March 24 2016.
