The Marxist throwback would propose segregated trains to women in a bid to reverse a rise in sex attacks on public transport.
Jezza – who looks set to become the next Labour leader – said he would consult women on the extraordinary idea.
The news comes as British Transport Police figures suggest sex offe
nces at trains and stations had risen by 25% – a record high.
Transport Minister Claire Perry said last year she was previously interested in the idea.
Mr Corbyn said: "My intention would be to make public transport safer for everyone from the train platform, to the bus stop, on the mode of transport itself.
"However I would consult with women and open it up to hear their views on whether women-only carriages would be welcome."
But the Twitter mocked the idea as a "joke", uncomfortable – and some even called it "apartheid".
Carriages solely for females were last used on UK railways in 1977.
Mexico, Japan, India and Indonesia are just some of the countries which have women-only trains.
BTP recorded 1,399 sexual offences in 2014-15 in England, Scotland and Wales – a rise of 282 on the previous year.
Fellow Labour leadership candidate Yvette Cooper called for transport bosses and police "to do more" to stop tube abuse towards women.
She said: "Segregation to "keep women safe" is turning the clock back not tackling the problem.
"We shouldn't have to shut ourselves away from men for our own safety."
