The beast, a white tiger, was one of a number of exotic animals that escaped when flooding in the city of Tbilisi in Georgia broke the cages and enclosures at the city's zoo.
The man it attacked was one of seven employees trapped in a cloth recycling factory by the prowling big cat.
A witness said the victim had been ripped "to pieces" after the tiger grabbed his throat in a packing area on the first floor.
There was some initial confusion about the sex of the victim and also whether the animal was a lion or a tiger because its fur is covered in dried mud, obscuring the markings.
Yesterday the zoo administration announced all animals except for one striped hyena, one tiger and one bear were accounted for.
Officials admitted they did not know whether the three missing animals were dead or alive.
