'I am now in menopause': Angelina Jolie reveals she had her ovaries removed last week... two years after double mastectomy

Two years after the 39-year-old had a double mastectomy (seen far right after the surgery in 2013) to prevent the onset of breast cancer, the actress and filmmaker has now revealed that she has had her ovaries removed as well. The Maleficent star (pictured center at her last public appearance, in Iraq in January) published a lengthy opinion piece, titled 'Angelina Jolie Pitt: Diary of a Surgery,' explaining her drastic decision. With her ovaries and Fallopian tubes now gone, the mother of six has entered early menopause and will not be able to have any more children, she writes in the candid article. Jolie, who had the procedure last week, said it gives her peace of mind that her children (left) will never have to say, 'Mom died of ovarian cancer'. Jolie explains that the mutation in the BRCA1 gene gave her an estimated 87 per cent risk of breast cancer and 50 per cent risk of ovarian cancer.
