The desperate search for baby Zaani: Agony for family of missing mother who walked out of hospital with her newborn daughter after a woman's body is found - but no sign of her child
Charlotte Bevan, 30, left, walked out of Bristol Maternity Hospital with no coat and wearing thin hospital slippers with her newborn daughter Zaani Tiana wrapped in just a blanket at 9pm on Tuesday. CCTV footage revealed how Miss Bevan was completely unchallenged as she calmly walked off the ward, past several nurses and out of the hospital clutching her baby. Last night a walker found some belongings at the top of the Avon Gorge and a police helicopter found a body below the Clifton Suspension Bridge, but did not find a baby. Search teams are combing the area for the newborn, who may have been out in near-freezing conditions since Tuesday night. Officers are walking the large area of land above the gorge while specialist officers have also been rapelling down the rocks into the valley below, where sniffer dog teams are also working. It is believed Miss Bevan may have stopped taking medication for depression so that she could breastfeed Zaani. She is also understood to have been treated for schizophrenia.
