'Don't send Oscar to prison': Social worker tells court Pistorius should be placed under house arrest for three years and carry out community service at a museum for killing his lover
WATCH THE SENTENCING LIVE: A stony-faced Pistorius stared straight ahead as police officers escorted him into the court building in Pretoria. He declined to answer questions from the scrum of reporters, but greeted his family inside the court with smiles and hugs. The sentencing of the amputee sprinter known as 'Blade Runner' comes after he was found guilty of manslaughter for shooting his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp (right) through a toilet door at his Pretoria home on Valentine's Day last year. While some experts claim he may not go to jail due to his disability, remorse and the fact he is a first time offender, others anticipate he will be imprisoned simply because of the severity of the crime.
