Meriam Yahia Ibrahim Ishag, the Sudanese woman who was spared a death sentence for renouncing Islam, has flown and arrived Italy after more than a month in the US embassy in Khartoum.
Accompanied by the Italian vice minister for foreign affairs Lapo Pistelli, Meriam flew with her family.
Pistelli posted this image on his Facebook page of himself, Mariam and her children as they were about to land in Rome.
If you recall, Meriam was given South Sudanese travel documents but was arrested at Khartoum airport, accused of using fake identity papers.
