NIALL Horan has made another inroad into football this week after meeting Barcelona strikers Lionel Messi and Neymar Jr, sparking rumours the 1D star could be heading to the Spanish city for trials.
Brazilian star Neymar posted a selfie of the two of them together with the message: "Honor [sic] to meet you. I'm a fan and admire the whole group!"
After impressing Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho when training with the team last month, the 20-year-old Irishman may think he's got a chance of taking injured Neymar's place in the Barce line-up.
Niall took a day out to watch the Spanish giants in action on Sunday as 1D continue the first leg of their Where We Are Tour in South America.
And the singer made the most of it, posting a photo of him and top striker Lionel Messi, saying: "Great day at the Barcelona game! INCREDIBLE to meet the best footballer in the world! leomessi ! What…"
Niall and the band have already trained with Real Madrid while bandmate Louis Tomlinson has grabbed himself a contract with Doncaster Rovers, so the impossible could still happen.
Neymar, who joined Barcelona from Brazilian side Santos for £48.6m last summer, has been the subject of a fan backlash in recent weeks.
The out-of-form wonderkid failed to star as the Spanish giants dropped vital points in the league, lost out in the Spanish Cup final to Real Madrid and missed out on a Champions League semi-final place thanks to Atletico Madrid - all in one week.
But Neymar, who is likely to be out for four weeks with a foot injury, will still be hoping to make Barcelona’s end-of-season clash with current league leaders Atletico Madrid.
Niall, on the other hand, will return to Colombia, where the 1D boys will play in Bogota on Friday night before heading to Chile, Peru and Brazil.
And don't worry Directioners, they will be back on home soil at the end of May for their UK leg of the tour.
